The project “Goldberg Variations” was created during the lockdown in spring 2020, when life had come to a standstill – only I continued to work as a doctor as usual, in addition to the obligations of caring for my family.
My way of not despairing was to resort to Bach every day.

The recordings were a tribute to those who faced the pandemic every day and tried to help people despite considerable danger to their own health.

My fellow freelance musicians are confronted with the loss of all their earnings, my fellow doctors wait for the pandemic to unfold and are trying to safe their patients - hoping that the system shall not collapse.

Each of us is confronted with challenges that we could not even imagine, let alone prepare for.

My refuge is Bach - and as a daily mediation I will record the Goldberg Variations and I will post one variation every day as a greeting to all colleagues, all artists, musicians, all those in quarantaine, all that are suffering from disease, those who mourne loved-ones, those that are exhausted and worried.
