In Memoriam Elisabeth Reschke

Elisabeth-Reschke-Stipendien

Elisabeth Reschke  (* 19.06.1943 - † 22.11.2009) was a German music instructor who sought to enable each student to actively engage in music making even though they might not have had any prior experience with instruments or music.

She developed a letter (Buchstaben) notation method L(B)NM, which enabled the students to play in a classroom settings without prior instrumental knowledge or skills.

In enabling each and everyone to join making music together she was far ahead of her time: in more than thirty years she developed and optimized her method in different context, in all age groups, in integrative settings. She taught her method in schools, she gave workshops for music instructors and took up the endeavor of writing a late Ph.D. thesis. Unfortunately she did not live long enough to see her work widely recognized. If you wish to learn more about the BNM, contact me to gain access to her work.

In appraisal of her work, I grant two scholarships to piano students in need or with outstanding ability. Currently the sholarships are not open to self-application.
